I am very excited to be joining in with the release celebrations today for the new release from Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design (aka SCACD).  Susana has followed her heart and taken a fantastic new direction with two awesome collections.

You should have hopped over here from DANNI’S BLOG.  If you’re just joining us or you’re feeling a little lost, pop on over to the SCACD Store Blog to get the full hop details and links!

The Release Details!

First is a fantastic new line of dies.  Susana has collaborated on a collection of dies with a timeless, classic feel.  Delicate and beautiful, the diecuts from these high quality wafer thin metal dies will be featuring on your projects for years to come!

Second is a brilliant new direction for SCACD.  Susana has collaborated on the creation of a new line of Mixed Media stamps.  Let SCACD take you on a new creative adventure with the Blank Canvas Collection.  From the beginner to the mixed media enthusiast, these stamps will have the creative juices well and truly flowing!

The Blank Canvas Collection stamps and the Die Collection are available NOW from Quixotic Paperie in the UK

Those of you in the US/Canada can buy direct from Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design.

Each set in the collection comprises three looks, perfect for mixing it up with different techniques.  Use the elements set to enhance the blank canvas silhouettes, or use them on their own for gorgeous effects.

In addition there is a fabulous set of word outlines, ready to be customised however you like!  Color them in, doodle, zentangle, paper piece – go wherever your creativity takes you.

The idea is to mix it up and have fun, and that’s most certainly what I’ve been doing.  It has been refreshing to step out of my comfort zone of markers and line art images, and play with a wider range of the products I have stashed away!  I’m by no means planning on throwing the markers out, but I am feeling a little more creative, a little less bogged down and a little more like I might actually work on that art journal I keep putting back in the cupboard.

My Project!

So, on to my project for today!  Instead of creating a card, I decided to create a fun little piece…a little tag book to keep in my desk drawer as a reminder.

Look, no colouring!  I used hot press watercolour paper, which I wet with a mister and then painted with Twinkling H2Os in three different colours (one of my very first stamping/colouring loves).  After the paper dried, I stamped the solid profile from the new Blank Canvas Profile Set in Archival Ink and used a Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities die to cut each one out.  Then I outlined the profiles and the edge of the oval with a white gel pen, and added some dots with a Copic Multiliner.  I also used the white gel pen to write on the profile, because that’s what the Blank Canvas Collection is all about!

I created the front cover by stamping the outline profile from the Blank Canvas Profiles Set on to black card with a white pigment ink, and outlining the edge of the oval with the white gel pen again.  I covered some chipboard letters in Gesso, followed by Twinkling H2Os in Ruby Red.  The whole thing is held together with a small book ring (I have hundreds of book rings stashed, which I don’t remember buying!).

You can’t really see on the photos, but the Twinkling H2Os give the coloured sheets a gorgeous, subtle shimmer which shows through the stamped profiles.

That’s it from me today!  I hope you can tell that I’m thoroughly enjoying this release and doing something a little different.  I’ve already got a few other completed projects ready to share over the next week, so check back starting on Sunday when I’ll be sharing a card created using one of the new dies!

Your next stop on the blog hop is DIANNE’S BLOG, and I know she will have something fab to share with you!
