Last year, with one thing and another, I failed miserably at sending handcrafted cards. Most people received a store bought card for birthdays, Christmas etc. This year, I am trying to get ahead so that most people on my list will receive something handcrafted.

I’ll talk about this a little more in an upcoming post where I plan to discuss some of my current thoughts on paper crafting. Suffice to say, most people on my list should receive a card made by my own fair hand, but not necessarily a card featuring an image I’ve coloured.

Today’s card is one of two I have created in preparation for Mother’s Day/Mothering Sunday. This year in the UK Mother’s Day falls on 30th March, so I am doing very well indeed!

I kept it very simple, using papers I created with Distress Inks both as the background layer and to die-cut the heart shapes that form the focal point of the card. The dies I used were Memory Box Cupid Heart and Silverdale Heart. The word “mother” was added using a Tim Holtz Chit Chat word sticker, which I inked with Distress Ink to match the background layer.

That’s it! A sweet and simple card, and a step closer to achieving my goal. 😉
