Kerby Rosanes Colouring Books:

I’ve included Kerby Rosanes’ books in a few posts here so far. I’m definitely a fan of his work, and the colouring books are a lot of fun to work in.

Here are links to my previous posts featuring a couple of his other books:

Today I’m going to be sharing some colouring I’ve done in one of Kerby’s Animorphia colouring book editions UK Link* / US Link*.

With all the little doodle elements each page in one of Kerby’s books does take a bit of a time investment to complete. This is one of two reasons why I love the postcard editions and their smaller size, the other being that they are great for working in with my favourite medium: alcohol based markers! My experience colouring in this book was much like colouring in the Harry Potter postcard colouring book, which I shared last week: Harry Potter Colouring Book – Cornish Pixies using Copics.

As you can see, the Animorphia flamingo page I’m sharing today isn’t the first I have tackled in this book. I’ve completed one page and started working on another using coloured pencils. When I’ve finished working in the book I’ll do another flip through – that might not happen for a while though, looking at my To Be Coloured shelf. 😉

Animorphia Flamingo Postcard:

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen a “work in progress” photo of this page already. Instagram is the best place to connect with me aside from this blog, as I am regularly posting there and checking out other people’s photos. Follow me over there and say “Hi” – I’d love to hear from you.

I had a lot of fun colouring this page. I love bringing Kerby’s artwork to life with lots of colour. I’ve seen lots of beautifully done interpretations from other colourists, particularly monochromatic colour schemes, but I always seem compelled to use lots of bright colour on these pages.

I coloured this page using Copic Markers UK link*/US link*. As you can see, they do of course bleed through to the back, but not so much that you couldn’t still use this as a postcard if you so wished. Personally, I’m not planning on sending these as postcards, so that doesn’t worry me at all.

CRAFTY IDEA: You could absolutely incorporate these postcards in a handmade card design, creating a border for them using paper crafting supplies. I may have to do this soon to create some fun cards for friends and family to enjoy.

When I had finished colouring the page using Copic Markers, I decided to add a couple of little touches using a combination of Copic atyou Spica glitter pens UK Link* / US Link* and a Sakura Gelly Roll pen in white UK Link* / US Link*. If you watch the video you will see me doing this to the little sprite and the yellow star. I showed this in Wednesday’s post too: Tammy Tutterow Colouring Page using Copics (w/video).

I filmed the colouring process so that you can watch how I tackled the page and perhaps pick up some ideas and tips for colouring your own version. You will find a complete list of the marker colours used on this page further down in this post.

Copic Colour Map:

I have put together a Copic Colour Map for you, showing the colours I used on the Animorphia flamingo page from the Animorphia Postcard Colouring Book UK Link* / US Link*. I haven’t labelled absolutely everything, because I tend to use the same colour combinations throughout, to give the image a consistent feel.
