Some tips from Quixotic Paperie DT member - Kim Dellow - on how to use Shimmerz Spritz.
Shimmerz Spritz is a great way to add colour and sparkle to your projects. The spray means you can get great coverage and lots of different effects. So here are some tips for using your Spritz.
If your Shimmerz Spritz has been standing for a while the sparkle paint will separate out so the best way to mix the spray without introducing too many air bubbles, that might interrupt the flow of the spray, is to roll the bottle between the palms of your hands.
I usually cover my work space with newspaper – but then I tend to be messy! Hold the spray 10-15cm above your paper or card and spray evenly moving your spray to cover the page. Depending on the effect you want you can vary the distance and the speed you move to get different looks.
For building up colour I usually spray a thin layer, allow it to dry then keep applying layers in this way until I have the intensity of colour I need. As with any liquid on paper you will get some winkling but it will depend on the thickness and quality of the paper used and you can always flatten it out with weight or an iron as needed.
Sometimes when you are spraying you will get a build up of glitz in the cap that may interrupt the flow of the spray. The best thing to do is just remove the spray nozzle and if you need, give it a quick wash.
There are all sorts of different effects you can get with Spritz, how about trying to sweep kitchen towel in one direction over the wet paper to get an even spread and ‘smooth’ look to the colour.
Just as with Shimmerz Paints, Shimmerz Spritz will work on a variety of different materials such as paper, fabric, wood etc.
Have fun experimenting.
(Make sure you take a closer look to see the sparkle!)
