News From Quixotic Paperie

Hi folks!  Just dropping by with a quick post today. My apologies for the lack of posts lately, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment including a possible house move. The things I have been working on craft-wise can’t be shared yet, so I haven’t had anything to post here. Don’t worry though, I’ll be back in action again very soon! ;)

Today I’d just like to share some news from my online store Quixotic Paperie.

Firstly I have some SPECIAL OFFERS to share. These are available until midnight on 18th June 2014 and apply to new orders and in stock items only. No codes required, the discount has already been applied to the product prices.

The latest stamp releases from Make it Crafty have just arrived in stock, including a special little fiery character available in rubber exclusively through Quixotic Paperie! All of the new stamps are including in the current 10% special offer.

You can pop on over to the store to see them all, but here’s a peek:

I have been a proud stockist of the Make it Crafty range since Zoe started selling rubber stamps, and am very happy to still have a fantastic range of the stamps in stock as well as the awesome Make it Colour Blending Card. I do also still have some stock of the Make it Crafty chipboard range, which is not currently in production, so stocks are limited.

Happy shopping and of course, happy crafting too!

WOYWW #252 & That Journal Spread

Today I’ve got a quick snap of my desk to share for WOYWW #252 over at Julia’s Stamping Ground.  For the uninitiated, visit > this page < for an explanation of WOYWW and how to join in.  It’s pretty simple really – it’s Wednesday, post a pic of your workspace link it up, grab a coffee and have a good nose around some others. ;)

My desk isn’t that interesting today, but it is a fairly typical view: markers (today they are Copics), and something I’m colouring, and my Gorjuss mug filled with Green Tea.  I’ve had to be sneaky though and turn over my colouring and cover up part of the journal you can see at the edge of the picture – I can’t show you what I’m working on until next week, although I am absolutely dying to. Really excited.

Anyway, those of you that have checked in before and seen previous WOYWW posts may be interested to see that I have finally finished “that journal spread”, which first made an appearance in February.

You can see the two previous spreads in this journal HERE.

Supplies used:
Moleskine Sketchbook, Gel Medium (matt), Tissue Paper, Distress Inks, Ranger Blending Tool, Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine Paper, Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix Butterfly Frenzy die, Memory Box Butterfly Delights die, Impression Obsession Leaves die set, Ranger Alcohol Inks, Ranger Glossy Cardstock, Luminarte Silks paints, Faber-Castell PITT artist markers.

Thanks for dropping in! I would love to hear from you, so please do leave a comment to say hi. :)

WOYWW #249

Apparently it has been over a month since I joined in with WOYWW over at Julia’s Stamping Ground. It feels like about a week… but I’m reliably informed that it is in fact now WOYWW #249!

It does seem like I may have been caught in a time warp, since the journal spread I was working on last time I posted a WOYWW pic is still in the same state! Not for long though, with some deadlines and boring paperwork out of the way, and the arrival of a new Tim Holtz die, I am ready to get back to it! Watch this space… ;)

There is a bit of a mess on the desk today, as I’ve just finished a set of cards for a magazine and am in the process of tidying up and sorting through some of the random stuff on my desk and some new arrivals (the little pile of pink rubber and the jars of paint at the back). Click the image to see a larger version if you want to have a closer look!

The clear A4 size Really Useful Box on my desk (underneath the journal) is where I pop all my inky backgrounds and leftovers.

You can also see the results of a quick inky session last night, where I played with Distress Inks and Dylusions sprays to create some more backgrounds for my box. The two blue Distress Ink background sheets may very well have something to do with the journal spread…hmm!

You may also note that I have a new mug! My old Gorjuss mug met with a fatal accident a couple of weeks ago, so sad, but now I have a new Gorjuss mug which I love even more because it has a hedgehog on it.  Yep. ;)

Happy Wednesday! I’m off to finish off some boring stuff so I can play with my journal.

Some Out Of This World New Images!

Was my last post really made at the end of February? Good grief! I have been a little busy behind the scenes colouring for new releases, doing the dreaded paperwork and generally trying to get caught up so that I can get on with some of the fun stuff I have planned. Bear with me a little longer, I’ll get there!

Today I’d like to share some colouring fun I’ve been having with the new SCACD Digital release, which is available now!

If you’ve been following this blog for a while you will probably be aware that my tastes run from cute to peculiar and everything in between, although really, weird and wonderful is definitely “me”. These new digis cater to that pretty well, so I have had a lot of fun playing with them! ;) Cards and other creations will follow, but for now here’s a look at the images I coloured up.

All the images were coloured with Copic markers on Make it Colour Blending Card .

Out of this world, no? Ha! You can find the digital images over at Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design.

Hope your week is off to a great start! I will be back with some cards a little later in the week.

Marker Geek on Facebook

I am now getting back on track following the loss of my father in October. It’s still hard, but many of the things that consumed my time following his death and needed to be dealt with have been resolved or are nearly resolved. As such, I’m getting on with things I started before October and didn’t get finished, like my Facebook page.  Again, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has been so supportive over the past few months, it really has been a big help.

Those of you that have been reading this blog for a while will be aware that it used to be called “Quixotic Cards”. Towards the end of last year I decided that name didn’t really fit with me and my interests any longer. I don’t just make cards, and I spend most of my creative time with a marker (or other colouring medium) in hand, plus I’m a bit of a geek…so…Marker Geek! Ha!

You may have noticed that this blog has a new banner, with an adorable image drawn by Christy at Tiddly Inks.  Thank you Christy! That’s one of the things that has been on my list for some time!

As mentioned above, I also now have a Facebook page dedicated to my crafty exploits. It is handily titled “Marker Geek” and you can find me over there sharing blog updates, colouring pics and generally waffling about colouring and crafts. I’d love for you to join me and share in the fun!

Thank you for stopping by, as always!

Stamping Bella Release Day!

Finally, it is release day over at Stamping Bella! I know, it seems like Em has been teasing forever…

The new stamps are all available to order now. They are not ready to ship yet, but will be soon! You can read all about it and check out the latest Bellariffic Friday over on Bloggabella.

For UK/Europe readers you can also find the stamps available to pre-order at my store Quixotic Paperie.

Happy Friday!

WOYWW #244 – In Which The Desk is Slightly Less Organised

***If you missed my journal post yesterday scroll down or click HERE.***

It’s time for WOYWW again!

I’ve been told by a number of people (mostly on FB) that my desk is too tidy. Not today! This week I found myself overcome with the urge to move stuff around in the bedroom and craft/office room, resulting in piles of stuff all over both desks. I cleared most of it, but this morning my craft desk is still covered (the piles were much higher yesterday morning).

You can catch a glimpse of the journal spread I’m currently working on.  At the moment it is just a very green looking Distress Inked background. Never fear, I have a cunning plan! ;)

WOYWW 244 -

The white ring binders house about half of my stamp collection.  These hold my bare rubber stamps in pocket page protectors. The charcoal coloured wallets hold my coloured pencils – I had these out on Monday, when I spent the afternoon watching a film and decorating the front of one of the notebooks in my Midori Traveler’s Notebook, which I am using for general life journaling (reading diary etc).

That’s it!  It is currently blowing a gale here in Dorset, and raining…again. I think I’ll stay inside with tea and catch up with some card-making! Hope you are staying warm and dry, wherever you are.

Sneak Peeks and Challenge Details

Just a quick post from me today. I hope you’re having a great weekend. Mine has been relatively peaceful, mostly spent listening to an audiobook and playing in my art journal.

Firstly, I wanted to share the details of the latest Stamping Bella Bellariffic Friday challenge.  You can find this week’s challenge post HERE. The challenge this time is an inspiration photo – simply be inspired by some element of the image, whether that be content, layout or colours! Be sure to email your entries to Emily by Thursday night to be entered and see your creations up on the blog on Friday.

Secondly, you may notice that Em shared a little sneak peek in her post! She does like to tease.  I had the pleasure of colouring up the latest images, and I have to say, they are fabulous. Here’s a little look at the first, in case you missed her.

This lovely lady is Jayden, and she comes with a beautiful sentiment.

As soon as Em sets a release date I will post that information.  The stamps will be available from Stamping Bella direct and yes, for UK and European stampers I will have them in stock at Quixotic Paperie!

Finally, a little sneak peek of something completely unrelated which I will be blogging next week. Be warned – I’m letting my weird show. ;-) I wonder if you can guess what it is…

Ahem. Stay tuned!

WOYWW #243

I thought I’d start joining in with WOYWW again this year.  I love nosing around other people’s workspaces over a cup of coffee.  It has been quite a while since I joined in, so with coffee in hand and an hour to myself, I’m ready to have a good nose! ;)

Over the past year, and particularly in the last month or so, we have been clearing out a lot of the clutter from our home.  This included me clearing out a lot of old and unwanted craft supplies. The process has been incredibly freeing, and without all the weight of unused supplies, I’m definitely feeling more creative.  Not to mention, the house is a lot tidier! Along with the clear-out, I’ve also been reorganising my workspace, making things more efficient and also making the space more inviting for me.

Here are some pics! I’ve just completed a project for a blog post on Friday, so I had tidied my desk, and am sorting through some new stamps and other fun stuff that arrived in the post this week. After I have a nose around other WOYWW posts, I’m planning on curling up with the magazine you can see for a good read.

Click the photos for a closer look.

As you can see, I have two desks side by side, one with a hutch, which is where I craft and the other one housing my desktop PC and my eBosser die cutting machine (favourite crafty purchase of 2013).

The top of my desk hutch used to house all sorts of stuff, random craft tools and other items.  It was a bit of a mess, and I found that I didn’t really use the things I stored up there, because they were up there and it was a pain to have to move things to get them down. So now that area houses my collection of art and craft related books and magazines, along with some of my favourite little bits and pieces. I feel so much happier sitting at my desk now, surrounded by my favourite things.

On the desk itself, I recently added a small organiser.  I picked it up in Staples from the Martha Stewart range.  It holds stamps and other items that are either new, or which I want to remember to use in the near future, or which I want to have handy because I use them often.

You can also see my art journal on the desk, with the spread I blogged yesterday open, simply because I like it so much I’m not ready to put it away yet. ;) If you want to take a closer look, scroll down to the post below or click HERE.

The drawers to the side of my craft desk house all my paints, sprays, inks, marker refills etc.

That’s it!  Hope you enjoyed having a little look at my creative space.
