Card & Video: Make it Crafty Phoebe & Reds

Make it Crafty Phoebe's Christmas Wish Copic Marker Colour Palette - ww.markergeek.com My friend Zoe from Make it Crafty recently gave away a gorgeous Christmas digi free to newsletter subscribers. I think she may still be available, so pop on over to the Make it Crafty FB page to check out the details and sign up (it is worth subscribing on Facebook and via the newsletter so you don’t miss the freebies that Zoe generously gives away from time to time)!

As soon as I saw Phoebe’s Christmas Wish I knew I wanted to create a very simple Christmas card with her cropped to one side. Sometimes I puzzle for ages over how I want to use an image, sometimes I just know.

Keep reading to see the card and for some discussion about Copic reds, a marker palette and speed colouring video. Phew, you may want to grab a tea/coffee first! ;)

Card & Video: Saturated Canary Feather Crown

Saturated Canary - Feather Crown Card & Video - www.markergeek.com

It is no secret that I love colouring hair. It is one of my favourite things to do. That said, I am a little out of practice, so to rectify that I turned to one of my favourite stamp artists for awesome hair: Krista Smith and her fantastic Saturated Canary images.  I need to get back into my hair “groove”, so bear with me, but I filmed the colouring process so you can check out a speed colouring video. I have also provided a Copic Marker Colour Palette in the post, so read on!

Card & Colouring Video: Make it Crafty Fiery Baby Dragon

Make it Crafty Fiery Baby Dragon Card & Video - www.markergeek.com

It has been a while, but finally I have found the motivation/energy to deal with digging out and setting up my video camera! Last weekend I decided to play and shoot a little video for you which I’m sharing in today’s post. The video is a little under ten minutes long and there is no commentary, just colouring. I will be sharing more videos in future, so if you enjoy watching them make sure you subscribe!

I hope you’ll enjoy taking a little glimpse at how I coloured the sweet little dragon image from Make it Crafty. I have a card and Copic Marker Colour Palette to share as well, so read on for the fun stuff!

Step By Step: Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Dragon Queen No Line Colouring

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Dragon Queen - www.markergeek.com

Today I’m returning to an old love – Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps! I have been completely smitten with their recent releases and particularly the stamp I used on today’s card. Annie Rodrigue is a firm favourite of mine, and I love her darker illustrations the best.

I decided to take some progress photos while colouring Dragon Queen, to illustrate my colouring process when working on an image using the “No Line Colouring” technique. I’ve put together a step by step guide which you will find below, along with the marker colour palette. I hope that you find these resources useful in your own colouring adventures. If you like them, let me know and I will do my best to bring you more in future.

NOTE: this blog post contains some large images.

Tiddly Inks Clear Stamps - Willow Christmas Fairy - www.markergeek.com

Happy World Card-making Day! I hope you’re managing to sneak in some crafty fun this weekend.

I’ve got a sweet little card to share with you today and I have to say I’m pretty pleased with myself. Why? It’s a Christmas card! I’m not known for being an early bird when it comes to Christmas preparations, but I could not resist colouring up the adorable new Christmas fairy from Tiddly Inks Clear Stamps. I actually have her all stamped up again with one of the accessory stamps from the set, so look out for some more inspiration soon!

Hi Cutie with The Greeting Farm Wild Child

The Greeting Farm - Wild Sprouts Wild Child - www.markergeek.comToday’s card was created using a stamp set I fell in love with instantly – The Greeting Farm Wild Sprouts Wild Child. SO cute, and so much fun to colour. I’ll be colouring her again soon, as I really want to colour her outfit to look like a panda. On this card I went for the reverse as I wanted to colour her hood in black. Other completely unrealistic colour combinations would be good too – why not have fun and go wild? ;)

Happy Day Mermaid!

The Greeting Farm - Magical kit Mermaid - www.markergeek.com

As promised, I’m getting back to my colouring and card-making now that all the new furniture has been delivered and organised. I’ll give you a little tour of my new office/craft space soon, just need a couple of little extras to get it fully organised *cough* Ikea trolley I’ve been admiring for months *cough*.

For now, here’s one I DIDN’T create earlier! The second card to be completed in the new house. Whoo! Several others were completed over the weekend, and I’ll be sharing them in due course.

I’ve been on a bit of a The Greeting Farm (TGF) stamping/colouring binge. They were one of my first character stamp loves, and I have been making some time to play with them because they just make me happy.

A Little Birthday Magic with The Greeting Farm!

We are now settling in to the new house quite nicely. There are still bits and pieces left to sort out, but the essentials are all set up, so I’m getting back to “normal” ;)

Our niece has the honour of being the recipient of the very first card made in the new house! It was a perfect excuse to play with one of the stamps from the new Magical Beans Kit from The Greeting Farm, which I have been itching to play with since it arrived just before the move.

You can find the Magical Beans kit and other stamps from The Greeting Farm over at my store Quixotic Paperie. I am based in the UK, but ship worldwide! Plus, if you pop over there between now and midnight on Monday 4th August you could enjoy a fantastic 20% off everything!

Here it is! I decided to make a pop up box card because I love making them and my niece was so impressed with the one I made for her Nanny earlier this year (you can also see another one I made HERE). The Magical Beans images lend themselves pretty well to this as they are a little smaller than the standard TGF size.

Cute, isn’t she?! An absolute breeze to colour too. I always have fun colouring TGF characters. She was coloured with Copic Markers and a little pencil on my favourite Make it Colour Blending Card.

Copics Used:
Skin: E51, E53, E21, V95 Hair: Y32, Y35, E55, E57 Outfit: BG45, BG49, RV63, RV66

I created the papers myself, using a Prima stencil and my favourite Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals (Tibetan Poppy Teal, Magnolia Magenta Gold, Glory of the Seas Gold) I also used Luminarte Silks in Ice as a resist to create the star paper. Here’s a close up of some of the gorgeous sparkle:

Love it!

The dies used for the flourish and leaf elements are Magnolia DooHickey dies. The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn stamp set.

If you haven’t tried making one yet, you can find instructions on creating a Pop Up Box Card over at Splitcoast Stampers.

I hope you’ve enjoyed dropping by today. I’ll be back again soon with some more crafty fun!

Some Saturated Canary Fun!

Before Christmas I coloured up some Saturated Canary images for Angie Hunt at Little Darlings Rubber Stamps.  The images are from the recent rubber release, and you can find the rubber stamps at Quixotic Paperie, along with a pre-order for the Winter CHA 2013 release!

Angie actually framed them to hang in the Little Darlings booth at Winter CHA!  Here are some pics of the booth (courtesy of Angie on FB and used here with her permission), and you can see the framed images hanging on the wall.
