Hopping with SCACD – Key To My Heart

Phew. Has it really been two weeks since I last posted? Insane. I’ll fill you in on the fun and games in a later post, but I’m climbing out of my funk, and I’ve got a fun card to jumpstart the blog with!

Today brings an adorable and fun new release from SCACD Stamps.  Together with artist Elisabeth Bell, Susana has put together a collection of super sweet fairies, including a couple with a slightly edgy SteamPunk vibe!  Love it.  Loads of fun to be had with these.

You should have hopped over here from KATHI’S BLOG!  If not, pop on over there to start the hop.

The new stamps are available now for US readers over at Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design

International readers can find the stamps available to preorder over at my store Quixotic Paperie (UK based, but shipping internationally).

Of course, I couldn’t resist creating a card with the gorgeous “Key To My Heart”.  Isn’t she fantastic?

2013_04_19_scacd_ebsteampunkfairy

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The designer paper is from the beautiful Prima Marketing Inc Fairy Rhymes 6×6 pad.

I embellished the corners with some star brads (using up that stash) and also part of the “waste” from the Dies by SCACD Contempo Compass Statement Corner die (US Readers will find it HERE)!  Love finding ways to make the most of dies.  The keyhole heart on top of the bow is from one of the Make it Crafty Lasercut Chipboard packs, and I coloured it with a red marker before distressing with an acrylic paint dabber in gold.

Even in Darkness There is Beauty

If you saw my blog post on Friday – “My Heart Bleeds – Something Different for the SCACD Release Hop“, you’ll be aware that I’m having a lot of fun getting inky/painty and exploring my less cute and cuddly side (which is actually the side I’m most comfortable with ;-) ).  Today I’ve got another tag to share with you, along similar lines.

I love making tags.  There’s just something fun about working within the confines of a tag, and it’s not as daunting as a full journal page or a canvas. I actually have another couple lined up to share with you soon, so I hope you’re enjoying them!  I’d love to hear from you, so please do feel free to leave a comment. :)

For today’s tag, I decided to join in with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Challenge.  It is running until Friday 22nd March, so there is still time to play!

I of course, used the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die from the Sizzix Alterations range (and possibly the mini movers and shapers one too, I think – I die cut lots of flowers from both dies and played around).

2013_03_20_darknesstag

The flowers were stamped with the “Wonky Clock” stamps from the new Susana Loves Stamps (SCACD) mixed media release.  This stamp is available in either the “Follow Your True Heart” set, or in the full Complete Accessories Collection set.  I embossed the stamp image and then used Distress Inks to colour the black flowers before layering them up to create the large flower.  In the centre I used a Prima Marketing Inc Vintage Trinkets brad and a Make it Crafty Lasercut Chipboard Cog Works cog covered in Fran’tage embossing enamel.

Behind the flower, I used one of my favourite dies – the Dies by SCACD “Alice’s Clock Statement Corner” die, which I used to cut some thin metal foil sheet.

The tag itself was first covered in a Golden Gel Medium with glass beads in it, which I then covered in a combination of Adirondack spray and Distress Stain, before applying some black acrylic paint through a stencil.

Phew!  Don’t worry, I’m not hanging up my marker tote, I’ll still be sharing lots of colouring fun too, but I do hope you will enjoy my little journey into mixed media as much as I am!

Hopping with Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps – March 2013 Release!

I’m happy to be joining in with the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps blog hop this month as a guest.  Told you I wouldn’t be abandoning KKS completely. ;-)

When I saw the stamps being released this time, I fell in love, hard!  I have a thing for more traditional fairy/sprite images, and the Annie Rodrigue stamps being released today are perfect!  Love them.

The stamps are now available direct from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps in Canada,
and also from me in the UK at Quixotic Paperie!

Don’t forget to visit all the blogs on today’s hop (see the list by clicking on the blue frog at the end of my post), as Kimmie will be giving away some stamps!

So, of course, I chose to showcase one of the new sprites on today’s card.  This is ISADORA.

2013_03_17_kks_isadora

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.

The paper is from my scrap box, I believe it was by Memory Box.  The gorgeous die cut branches are the Dies by SCACD – Breezy Branches Statement Corner die, which I am in love with – you could easily cut the diecuts up and use the branches behind flowers etc too! Lots of possibilities.

That’s it from me!  Click on the blue frog and go hopping!

The Greeting Farm – March Previews – Monday Morning (on Thursday)!

Today is the final day of the March previews at The Greeting Farm!  Plus, it is one day away from Friday – suh-weet!

It’s hard to decide, but I think today’s preview might just be my favourite.  I am partiularly fond of the Creeper stamps, and the new release – Monday Morning – is just brilliant.  Love her!

Make sure you check out everyone’s samples over on the TGF BLOG, and read today’s post over there to see how you can win the new Monday Morning stamp.

Here she is!

2013_02_28_tgf_mondaymorning

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The paper I used is from my scrap box (again, I am being very good indeed so far this year) and is an older Magnolia design.

I used one of the MFT Die-Namics Photo Corners in one corner, and one of my personal favourites – the Dies by SCACD – Alice’s Clock Statement Corner die in the opposite corner to embellish.  I also used Spellbinders circle and pinking circle dies for the image layer and mats.  I distressed the edges of the papers and the diecuts with an acrylic paint dabber in silver and added a button threaded with black twine to finish off!

Come back tomorrow to join us for the release day hop shenanigans!

SCACD Stamps Release Hop – Arctic Princess

Today sees the release of some incredible new stamps from two of the SCACD Stamps lines: Elisabeth Bell for SCACD and also the awesome Susana Loves Stamps collection.

I’m joining the SCACD Design Team today for a hop to showcase the new release.  Thanks for having me, girls!

You should have hopped over here from DANNI’S BLOG.  If not, pop on over there now, as she is the first stop on the hop, and I’m sure you won’t want to miss any of the crafty inspiration. ;)

I chose to show off one of the new Susana Loves Stamps images today, and I’m sure you can see why.  I fell in love with this particular stamp immediately.

Meet Arctic Princess from the Mythical Reflections release!

SCACD - Susana Loves Stamps - Artic Princess - www.quixoticcards.com/blog

Isn’t she beautiful? And that seahorse…oh my!  I had a lot of fun colouring her up.  The stamp is a really nice size for colouring, with lots of beautiful details.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The beautiful die cuts around the image are the Dies by SCACD Ornate Hinge die – Melanie Holtz also used them this way recently and I loved the effect.

I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by and checking out my card.  Time to hop on though, and your next stop is the fantastic ALEX’S BLOG!

Happy hopping!

Bellariffic Friday – Take 3!

This week’s Bellariffic Friday challenge was to use three papers and three embellishments.  Here’s what I came up with!

v

The fab image is of course Stamping Bella Uptown Girls – Clarissa & Camille Share a Cafe (stamp is also available in the UK from Quixotic Paperie).

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The designer papers all came from a My Mind’s Eye 6×6 pad.  The corner diecuts were cut using Dies by SCACD – Classic Corners.

NEXT WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Follow the SKETCH (see below). Email your entries to Emily at Stamping Bella by Thursday 1st November to be in with a chance of winning some Bella Bucks.

What’s the time Mr Wolf?

Happy Friday!  It’s a dull and miserable day here in Dorset.  Grey and rainy.  The dog is tucked up in her bed, and I’m catching up with work.  On the bright side, it is perfect crafting weather. ;-)

Today there is a fun blog hop going on with SCACD Stamps.  I’m in the hop, but you will need to pop on over to the Quixotic Paperie store blog – Quixotic Inspirations – to see my full card!  Make sure you join in as both Susana at SCACD and myself are giving away some blog candy to commenters.

Here’s a teaser…

SCACD Stamps - What Big Eyes - www.quixoticcards.com

My card features the gorgeous “What Big Eyes” from the Susana Loves Stamps range by SCACD, plus a couple of the Dies by SCACD diecuts.

Enjoy the hop!  I’ll be back here on this blog later today with my latest Bellariffic Friday card.

Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Challenge – Skulls!

The Krafty Girls are getting a little spooky today with the latest Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps challenge – use a skull in some way on your project!  So either an image featuring skulls somewhere, skull design paper, embellishments etc.

Join in using a Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps image and you could be in with a chance of winning the stamp featured on our lovely hostess Cheryl’s card!

PLUS make sure you check out the fun events over at the challenge blog this weekend in honour of World Cardmaking Day!

Here’s my spooktastic card.  I was feeling a little coloured out, and needed a change, so I pulled out the HALLOWEEN TRINKETS stamp set (also available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie) and some dies.

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Halloween Trinkets - www.quixoticcards.com

I stamped the trinket sentiment with black ink on white card and diecut it using a Spellbinders circle die.  I placed it on top of a paper rosette made from Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor paper using the Memory Box Blooming Rosette die (any rosette die would work, like the MFT Die-Namics ones).  I’m a little bit late to the rosette party, but I may be developing an addiction to making them…

Behind my rosette are some gorgeous diecuts – my favourite Dies by SCACD – Alice’s Clock Statement Corner and MFT Die-Namics Fancy Flourish.  I tied the bow using my Bow-Easy, and finally I added my skull to the top of the bow.

The skull features on one of the Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor 12×12 kit sticker sheets, as part of a larger design.  I didn’t really want to cut the sticker up, so I actually cut it out from the packaging insert sheet and backed with cardstock to make it more durable.

That’s it!  Hope you’ll join us for this week’s challenge.  Have a fantastic weekend!

NOTE:

Those of you in Canada or nearby, have you booked your places at the upcoming Krafty Day yet?  If not (and why not?!) get on over to the KKS website and book!  Kimmie and the Krafty Girls who are able to attend have got some serious fun planned.

Bellariffic Friday – Uptown Molly

Friday again!  It really does feel like I wrote last week’s Bellariffic Friday post just yesterday…

Anyhoo, today is another Bellariffic Friday, with some Bellatastic news.  Haha!  We’ve got a new Babe in our midst, my fabulous friend and also QP DT member – Mary J. Whoo!

We had a sketch to follow this week, and on my card I have used Uptown Girl – Molly Makes a Detour (also available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie).

Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls Molly Makes a Detour - www.quixoticcards.com

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The designer paper is from an older Echo Park pad – Times & Seasons.  The yummy diecut corners are from the Dies by SCACD Classic Corners die set.  I tied the little bow using my Bow-Easy.  Oh and I cut the image layer and mat using Spellbinders Grand Labels 4, and chopped the bottom off to give a straight bottom edge.

NEXT WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Halloween!  Either use a Halloween themed image or Halloween inspired colours. Email your entries to Emily at Stamping Bella by Thursday 11th October to be in with a chance of winning some Bella Bucks.

Spooky Favourite – Perfect Poison

Today’s card is also being posted over on the Quixotic Paperie store blog – Quixotic Inspirations, as part of the Spooktacular Halloween week.  Make sure you pop on over there if you haven’t already, to check out the inspiration from this week and to enter the giveaway in >this post<.  Tomorrow will be your last chance to enter the giveaway, and Delphine will be showing off another spooktacular make!

The challenge this week at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps is to use your favourite Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps image.  Tough challenge, simply because narrowing it down was a mammoth task in itself (for me anyway).  I finally chose PERFECT POISON (also available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie).  She’s so full of spooky mischief, and she is a lot of fun to colour.

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Perfect Poison - www.quixoticcards.com

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.

Designer papers are Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor 6×6.  The stunning corner diecut was cut using one of the new Dies by SCACD designs – Alice’s Clock Statement Corner.  I added a little bow tied with the help of my Bow Easy template, and accented with one of the MFT Die-Namics Halloween Charms diecuts.

Hope to see you joining in the challenge this week!
