Marker Colour Combos: Tiddly Inks Pumpkin in Copics & Touch Twin

Pumpkins - Copic & Touch Twin Marker Combos - www.markergeek.com

Today I’d like to share some different colour combinations I came up with while playing with stamps for my Halloween post tomorrow.

I have created two versions of a card design to share with you for Halloween, using the Tiddly Inks Bewitching clear stamp set and two different brands of alcohol based markers. I will be sharing both cards tomorrow along with full colour palettes for both Copic and ShinHan Touch Twin markers. For now, I thought this post might be useful for those of you still having your own fun with Halloween/autumn themed images. Read on for pinnable pumpkin marker combo info!

ShinHan Touch Twin Markers Available in the UK!

Phew!  We were away for a long weekend attending some family celebrations, and after spending today catching up with orders etc. I am worn out!  So, this is just a brief post to say that I’m still alive and kicking (just), but you will have to wait until later this week for some crafty inspiration.

I do have some good news to share: Jackson’s Art Supplies now have the ShinHan Touch Twin markers IN STOCK! They are offering both the bullet tip and brush tip markers at a great price.

Shin Han Twin Touch Marker Pen

(click the image to visit the ShinHan Marker section of the website)

At £2.30 per marker for the brush tip (white barrel) and £2.00 per marker for the bullet tip (black barrel), these are definitely worth a try, either as an alternative to other more expensive brands (they perform equally well), or to enhance an existing marker collection.

I can personally recommend the service offered by Jackson’s Art Supplies – I am a returning customer for various art stuff.

For those of you not familiar with the ShinHan Touch Twin markers, or those of you who are new to my blog, here is the link to my YouTube channel, where you will find some colouring videos featuring the markers.

In many of my blog posts I include a marker colour map where possible, so for information on colour combos please have a browse through my posts.

That’s all for now.  I will catch you later this week with some serious crafty fun!

Great News for UK Marker Fans

Returning readers will be aware that I predominantly work with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers and am a member of the ShinHan design team.

These have been fairly tricky to source in the UK, particularly the brush tipped version (my personal preference).  The good news is, there is now a stockist: Jackson’s Art Supplies, who are offering both the bullet tip and brush tip markers at a great price.

Following My True North & A Touch Twin Inspiration Hop

I’ve got another tag to share today!  I’m having a lot of fun making tags and playing with the new Susana Loves Stamps (SCACD) stamp release, plus some other new goodies that have found their way on to my desk.

Today’s tag was created for a fun informal inspiration hop the Touch Twin Markers and More design team are having.  We hope you will join us and enjoy the inspiration on offer.

2013_03_18_truenorthtag

For the focal point of my tag I used the new compass from the Susana Loves Stamps “Nature’s Direction” set, also available in the larger Complete Accessories Collection Set (US Readers: the Susana Loves Stamps sets are available in the US from Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design along with a host of other products, including Touch Twin Markers, Art Anthology sprays etc also used on this tag!). I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.

ShinHan Touch Twin Markers Used: Y36, YR32, Y41, BR104, BR100, BR102, PB77, P83, for extra shading: WG2, WG5

I created the tag base by cutting it with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations die, then sprayed it with Art Anthology Colorations Spray in Mocha.  I stamped and embossed one of the female silhouettes from the Susana Loves Stamps Blank Canvas Women Set, and then added some extra texture to the tag using a stencil and some chalk ink.  I then applied my wording using alpha stickers and popped my coloured and cut out compass on the top!

That’s it!  I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by and checking out my project today.  If you fancy leaving a comment, I would love to hear from you as always.

Here’s the hop list for you:

Hopping with Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps – March 2013 Release!

I’m happy to be joining in with the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps blog hop this month as a guest.  Told you I wouldn’t be abandoning KKS completely. ;-)

When I saw the stamps being released this time, I fell in love, hard!  I have a thing for more traditional fairy/sprite images, and the Annie Rodrigue stamps being released today are perfect!  Love them.

The stamps are now available direct from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps in Canada,
and also from me in the UK at Quixotic Paperie!

Don’t forget to visit all the blogs on today’s hop (see the list by clicking on the blue frog at the end of my post), as Kimmie will be giving away some stamps!

So, of course, I chose to showcase one of the new sprites on today’s card.  This is ISADORA.

2013_03_17_kks_isadora

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.

The paper is from my scrap box, I believe it was by Memory Box.  The gorgeous die cut branches are the Dies by SCACD – Breezy Branches Statement Corner die, which I am in love with – you could easily cut the diecuts up and use the branches behind flowers etc too! Lots of possibilities.

That’s it from me!  Click on the blue frog and go hopping!

My Heart Bleeds – Something Different for the SCACD Release Hop!

Well, another week has whizzed on by.  As usual I’m in a complete daze, wondering where the time went and why I haven’t quite achieved everything I intended.  C’est la vie!
Today I am thrilled to be helping showcase the latest release from SCACD’s Susana Loves Stamps range.  This month Susana has a brilliant new mixed media collection for you, building on the original release (recently featured in Craft Stamper Magazine – February 2013 issue) to take you on new creative adventures!  Mix and match and use a variety of techniques to grace cards/papercrafting projects as well as altered canvases and other mixed media projects.
I’ve been tiptoeing around mixed media/art journaling/etc for a while, as you may know if you’re a regular reader – I’ve referred to it from time to time.  Mostly I’ve been admiring other people’s work, because oh my, there are some talented people out there creating a wide array of mixed media projects.
I’m starting to make time to jump in and be brave and have some inky painty fun.  Today’s tag is the result of a very fun session with stamps, paints, papers, Frantage, inks and of course my ShinHan Touch Twin markers.  Be warned, inky painty fun really brings out my WEIRD, and I have plenty of weird to go around. ;-)
On my tag I have used the awesome heart stamp from the “Follow Your True Heart” set.
2013_03_15_scacd_hearttag
I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers., before cutting out ready to stick on my tag.
On the tag I used a sheet from the Prima Marketing Inc Engraver 6×6 pad (LOVE), which I liberally distressed with Frantage embossing enamel, a pair of scissors and distress ink.  I also created “blood” splatters by flicking Adirondack ink on to the tag.  After sticking my heart image on the tag, I outlined it with a charcoal pencil to help it stand out from the background.
That’s it!  The new stamps and some beautiful new Dies by SCACD dies are now available here in the UK at Quixotic Paperie and in the US at Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design!  Here are the links:
Finally here’s the hop list for you!  Make sure you take a look at all the designer’s blogs today, I know they each have something inspiring to show you!

Bellariffic Friday & A New Release!

* For my The Greeting Farm blog hop post, scroll down or click HERE *

Happy Friday!  Got to say, I think I blinked and missed the week.  I’m pretty sure I woke up yesterday and it was Monday… ;-)  Not going to complain too much though, Friday is one of my favourite days.

Today is a particularly good Friday, as it brings both the usual Bellariffic Friday challenge AND the new stamp release at Stamping Bella!  Yep, that’s right, the new stamps will all be available at Stamping Bella today (and all orders over $55 will receive a free Ketto stamp goodie bag worth $30!).

So, for my Bellariffic Friday card, I used one of the GORGEOUS new Uptown Girls images – SUNNY.  When I saw the new Uptownies, I almost fell off my chair.  Seriously.  LOVE.  Between them and the new Diane Duda stamps, I am in colouring heaven. Plus of course, the two chubbalicious Mo Manning images being released today.

Anyway, here is Sunny! Is she not faaaaaaabulous, darlings? Haha!

2013_03_01_sb_uptown_sunny

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  The paper I used is a lightly patterned kraft paper that I have had in my stash for ages, I believe it was from Stampin’ Up.  I used MFT Die-Namics Fishtail Flag STAX dies to cut the little banner (I chopped them down to make the short banner, and punched holes using my Crop-o-dile), which I embellished with gems.  I distressed the edges of the papers with a chalk ink, just to soften the edges.  The sentiment layer and mat were cut using Spellbinders labels dies.

And yes, for all you UK girls desperate to get your hands on the new release – they will all be coming to Quixotic Paperie!  Keep an eye out for their arrival in the next few weeks. ;-)

Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Challenge: You’re The Main Attraction!

Today brings a new Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Challenge.  This week our hostess is the lovely Jessie and she has asked us to EMBELLISH IT!  She wants to see THREE embellishments on everyone’s cards/projects this week.

I tend to find challenges fairly tricksy.  I’m very much a “freestyle” girl, I don’t like working to a plan, so I tend to get all itchy and fidgety when working on challenge cards.  The strange thing, I usually end up really liking how they turn out!  This challenge was particularly tricky because (in case you hadn’t noticed) I don’t tend to use a lot of embellishments.  That’s actually quite funny, since I have an incredible stash of them. ;)

Anyway, here’s my card for the challenge, featuring RUBY THE RINGMISTRESS from the Circus Girls release (also available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie).  It still ended up pretty clean and simple in style, as I used 1. a die cut sentiment (the sentiment stamp comes with Ruby) 2. a heart shaped button and 3. some small crystal gems around the image.

2013_01_19_kks_rubyringmistress

You’ll notice that I also played with my sewing machine again.  I had forgotten how much I love the finished look stitching can give, so you can expect to see more of this from me now I’ve rediscovered it. ;)

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers. The designer paper is from an older Bo Bunny collection.  I’m doing pretty well at the moment, using up my vast hoard of scraps and papers.  There’s still a long way to go, but I’m not adding to it at the moment, so hopefully I’ll actually manage to downsize a bit!  The sentiment and mat were diecut using MFT Die-Namics Fishtail Flags STAX.

I hope you’re having a great weekend.  Make sure you stop by the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps challenge blog and join in – we love seeing your creations, and of course if you play along using a KKS stamp you could win the stamp featured on our hostess Jessie’s challenge card!

Bellariffic Friday – Come Fly Away With Me…

We woke up this morning to a blanket of snow.  It has been snowing all day, and people have been out making snowmen and having fun.  In this house we’re all tucked up inside toasty and warm (after a couple of little essential trips).  There has been some work, and a little play.  The rest of the afternoon will be dedicated to making cards from some of the images I have coloured over the last few months.  Fun!

It is of course, Bellariffic Friday today, and our challenge for the week was to be inspired by the photo provided!

As you can see, I chose to be inspired by the colours, although my tones ended up being more muted as I found I wanted to go with a vintagey feeling.

2013_01_18_sb_ramonateddyballoon

I also decided that I would get my sewing machine out, after neglecting it for a couple of years!  I used to sew on my cards all the time, and I love the look, but over the past couple of years I have spent so much of my creative time in a rush that it was just one of those things that fell by the wayside.  Time to pick it up again!  I was pretty impressed that all went smoothly – I was expecting to be a bit wobbly after being out of practice for so long.

The image is Stamping Bella Ramona & Teddy In Their Balloon.  I love the Amariah Rauscher images, they are so sweet.  This stamp is also available in the UK from me at Quixotic Paperie.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers (details below).  The designer papers are from an old Echo Park 12×12 kit and I sponged all the layers with Versamagic Chalk inks.

We really want to see you getting those Stamping Bella stamps all inky! You have until the end of Monday 21st January to enter.

Mister Penguin Is The Cutest!

Looking through my folder of photos I was startled to see that I forgot to blog one of my Christmas cards! Tsk.  It features one of my favourite recent releases too, so I’m here to share it now!

I gave this card to Paul for Christmas, because I knew he would love the adorable Mister Penguin, and he did. ;)

Stamping Bella - Ramona Shares Her Hot Chocolate - www.quixoticcards.com

The stamp I used is Stamping Bella – Ramona Shares Her Hot Chocolate (available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie). It definitely doesn’t have to be a Christmas image, it would be equally adorable for a wintry friendship or birthday card!  I coloured this image up fairly quickly, which was handy since I was definitely short on time and energy just before Christmas.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with a combination of ShinHan Touch Twin Markers and Copic Markers. I kept it nice and simple, so no designer paper. Spellbinders dies, little crystal gems to accent.

That’s it for today.  Hope Monday allows you to ease into the week without too much stress.  I’ll be back tomorrow with something else to show you!
