Hope you’re all recovered from the excitement of the Royal Wedding yesterday!  Time to enjoy the remainder of the long weekend here in the UK.

The wedding may be over, but the offers are still on at Quixotic Paperie!  You have until midnight on Monday 2nd May to take advantage of Free P&P and other offers – get all the details HERE.

A little bit of news today!  I was chatting with my lovely friend Zoe recently (Zoe is the owner of Make It Crafty and an amazing colourist/crafter) and she asked me if I’d like to join the team at Make It Colourful.  As you know, I love to colour, so I said yes!  You can read a little intro post on me over on the Make It Colourful blog, and check out a pic of my younger self.

If you love to colour, this is the challenge blog for you!  Every week there is a new challenge, and whatever colouring medium you use you are welcome to enter!

This week’s challenge is to colour Black with a splash of Red!  This doesn’t mean you have to go monochromatic (although a number of us on the DT have done just that), you just need to use black and red somewhere in there!  The idea is to practice colouring blacks and reds, which can be tricksy!

Once you’ve checked out my creation here, make sure you pop over and see the rest of the DT creations over on this week’s Make It Colourful challenge post – they are all amazing!  I’m thrilled to be working with these girls.

The sponsor for this week’s challenge is the lovely Christy Croll at Tiddly Inks.  I love Christy’s art, and colouring her images is always fun.  It’s Tiddly Inks’ first birthday today, and if you pop on over to the Tiddly Inks blog you can join in with a treasure hunt and check out a load of new images!  Plus, if you join in with this week’s Make It Colourful challenge you could win a prize!

So, on to my effort for this challenge…  I’m not that in love with how the background colouring turned out as I rushed it a bit (downside of being a last minute girl), but I DO love Gossmere and the Fairy Tree House.  Definitely need to work on my background colouring – anyone got some extra hours going spare? 😉

I used most of the Copic grays on this one (Toner Grays for some of the detail on the tree house and Gossmere’s skin, Cool Grays on the window panes and Gossmere’s hair, Warm Grays on the rest). For reds I used R0000, R20, R21, R22, R24, R27, R29, R59.

GOSSMERE is available in digi or rubber: Gossmere Digi at Tiddly Inks, US/Canada – Gossmere in Stamping Bella rubber, UK/Europe – Gossmere in Stamping Bella rubber at Quixotic Paperie.

FAIRY TREE HOUSE is available in digi or rubber: Fairy Tree House digi at Make It Crafty, UK/Europe – Fairy Tree House in rubber at Quixotic Paperie.

I added a little embellishment in the form of Make It Crafty Lasercut Chipboard corners, which I painted black with a shimmery paint.

Hope you enjoyed checking out my first make for Make It Colourful!  Hope to see lots of you entering the challenge!
