Love him. So uncoordinated with his long legs. If you take a look at the other two stamp sets you’ll see that the chicks are running flapping rings around him.

Copic Reindeer Colour Combos:

Since the release a few people have asked for colour ideas for reindeer, so I thought this might be a good time to take a quick look at some Copic Earth tone combos.

I’ve used both some natural blending group combos and some that mix things up a little. My favourite combo on the sheet is probably #5 – E97,E39,E49. I like the depth and visual interest I achieved here, using markers from three different Earth tone groups. The results are a little on the orange side, but hey he’s a cartoon reindeer, we can have a little fun. 😉

Mixing up the Earth families can give you some really nice variation that works beautifully for creating depth and interest when representing natural textures like hair and fur. For a more simplistic and cute image like Rudolph this isn’t necessary at all, but it is fun to play!

REMEMBER: the results you get with the combos above may vary. Use these as a jumping off point to experiment and find what works for you. If a particular combo doesn’t work straight away – try it again, but vary the amount of ink you lay down, the order you colour in etc. The magic isn’t in the marker combo – it’s in how you use the markers!

Copic Colouring Videos:

I’ve popped my three Stamping Bella Rudolph the Reindeer speed colouring videos into a playlist on YouTube. Watch them below or in HD over on YouTube.

Watching the videos may give you a better idea of how I apply colour – the order in which I do things, how much ink I lay down and the strokes I use. I hope you find them helpful! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you want to keep up with all my videos!

Marker Geek Monday:

Today is of course, Marker Geek Monday over on the Stamping Bella blog. Over there I’m sharing some pencil suggestions for colouring Rudolph, so if pencils are your thing, pop on over there to check out the post: Marker Geek Monday – Coloured Pencil Reindeer Combos.
