I know, I say this every time, but I can’t quite believe it has been four weeks since we opened the Quixotic Challenges blog. Christmas seemed quite far away then, and now it seems dauntingly close!
Our fourth challenge has been set by Kim:
*** Tearing ***
We would like you to create a project that features tearing e.g torn edges, ripped up paper, simple as that!
This could be a card, a tag, an altered item, a scrapbook page, anything you fancy!
This one was a little tough for me… I do find it difficult to be brave enough to tear into all that lovely designer paper! I do love the effects that can be achieved though.
For my card I have chosen to use one of the adorable Gillian F. Roberts stamps from Stampavie – Mistletoe & Mice (available HERE). I’ve gone for some very subtle tearing, just on the one layer, as I wanted to keep this one relatively simple. I also distressed the torn edge a little more using Distress Ink.
The designs in this collection from Stampavie are adorable, and actually pretty fast to colour in, ideal if you’re looking for something for last minute Christmas cards (most of mine are yet to be done, typically).
I’ve coloured this sweet mouse couple using Copic markers, with Shimmerz Blingz in “Gold Glimmer” (available HERE) to accent their clothes, and Shimmerz “Angel Wings” (available HERE) for the mistletoe.
The papers are from the lovely Cosmo Cricket “Jolly By Golly” Mini Deck (available HERE). The Holly leaves are an MS punch, and I used 4mm Flat Back Pearls in Red (available HERE) for the berries and to embellish the mat around the image which I cut out using the gorgeous Nestabilities Labels Nine (available HERE). I also used some of the beautiful Prima Inc. Lace (available HERE), which I spritzed with Shimmerz Spritz “Baby’s Breath” (available HERE) for a little subtle shimmer.
Thank you for dropping by and for any comments you would like to leave! I wish I had more time for bloghopping, but at the moment time is in short supply (as it is for many of us), as on top of the imminent festive season and Quixotic Paperie, my partner is starting a new job on Monday, and we’re going to be moving in the New Year. So much to do!
Make sure you check out the rest of the DT creations over at Quixotic Challenges this week. We’d love to see you all playing along too!

This is scrummy Elaine! I really love these papers together and your colouring is as perfect as ever.
Sorry for being a rubbish blogging friend lately! ~x~
What a lovely challenge and what lovely DT cards. I still don’t use tearing much as I’m not sure I really like it – but it’s growing on me – and I do prefer it when I ink the edge as it looks more like I deliberately meant to tear the paper!!!
Here is my card for this challenge
Best wishes
