When I received the Autumn Homegrown Kit from Sugar Nellie last week, I knew exactly what I was going to do for my Mum’s birthday card.

A bit of background is necessary to explain this one fully!  My parents have a Staffie who is not a friend to hedgehogs.  As a puppy he encountered one, spiked his nose on it, and has borne a grudge ever since.  He’s 12 years old now, and thankfully has had relatively few encounters with hedgies.  This summer, unfortunately for the hedgies, he has encountered a couple.  Lets just say that Mum and he have not been the best of friends.

I also have a big soft spot for hedgies, so I’m sure the Sugar Nellie stamps will be getting another outing or two this Autumn!

Sugar Nellie - Hedgehog Girl - Card

Hedgehog Girl has been coloured using Copic Markers, and the sky has been airbrushed.  A full list of Copics can be found at the end of this post.  Shock horror, no Shimmerz on this one!  I have, however, added some bling using the fabulous Bazzill Jewel Templates that arrived at Quixotic Paperie yesterday, and the Bazzill Adhesive 3mm & 4mm Jewels (Fawn/Walnut).  So easy to use, and the results are gorgeous.

I’ve used the layout from last week’s Friday Sketchers challenge.  Too late to enter, obviously, but the sketch was perfect for this card.

The papers are from the gorgeous My Mind’s Eye “Ooh La La For Him” 12×12 paper and accessories pack.  These papers are gorgeous, and perfect for Autumn projects, and for male or female recipients!

Sugar Nellie - Hedgehog Girl - Card - Inside

On the inside of the card, I’ve added a touch of humour, relating to the background I mentioned at the start of the post.  I’ve masked the hedgehog stamp from the Sugar Nellie Autumn Kit with a dog stamp from the aptly named company – Rubber Hedgehog!

I’m sure this card will probably provoke Mum to scowl in the dog’s direction yet again.  Poor old boy!

And here, a quick photo of the Bazzill Jewel Templates so you can appreciate just how yummy they are!

And yes, all six have mysteriously ended up in my craftroom.  Ahem.

Finally, I’d like to let you all know that this week, Quixotic Paperie is sponsoring the Stamp Something challenge blog, run by the lovely Denise Lynn (Whimsy Stamps) and the equally lovely Erin Bailey.  We’re offering a fabulous prize again – a huge selection of charms.  So if charms are your thing, make sure you join in!  All you have to do to enter is creat something featuring your favourite embellishments.  How easy is that?!

Hope you’re all enjoying the weekend!  I’m off for some more crafty playtime.
